Brighton & Hove Youth Big Band, a dynamic ensemble of talented young musicians, are thrilled to be taking to the stage at The Brighton Jazz Festival. The young musicians learn with Create Music, the Music Hub for Brighton & Hove and East Sussex.
Having captivated audiences throughout Brighton & Hove, from the iconic settings of The Old Market to the intimate vibes of Latest Music Bar, the ensemble plays a wide range of big band arrangements from traditional to modern jazz. Get ready to be swept away by their groove and charm!
This band performs some of the most exciting repertoire written for this medium. Recent charts include numbers from Miles Davis, Charles Mingus and Stevie Wonder. -

Orbit is a quartet that has emerged through the New Generation Jazz educational program in Brighton, where band members Alfie, Charlie, Max and Otis met. NGJ rehearsals always have a great atmosphere and vibe which is down to one man, Matt Ellis. Through Matt’s teaching, every member of Orbit has gained essential knowledge about jazz and collaboration. The band has taken this influence, merged it with a range of new, exciting rhythms and created compositions that evoke a mood and feel.
With influences from acts such as Jazzbois, Venna and Nubya Garcia, Orbit look to be transportive in their music while maintaining their own distinct sound, one of funk, groove and flow. Their debut solo gig is set to be captivating, dynamic and euphoric.

Super-swinging All-star group featuring legendary saxophone powerhouse, Andy Panayi and Hard-bop hero, Roy Hilton on piano. Joining them is the illustrious Bobby Worth on drums and the eminent Simon Thorpe on bass.

Paul Richards & Rachel Myer duo presents a scintillating mix of classic numbers from the Great American Songbook, spiced up with unexpected contemporary material and Latin flavours, with Rachel’s evocative vocals backed by her swinging and versatile guitarist, Paul Richards. Both are familiar figures on the Brighton jazz and music scene and they have worked together for over 15 years.

Adriana Lord and Pedro Enrique Medina, both natives of Havana Cuba, bring their deep knowledge of the Afro Cuban musical tradition to there riveting duo performances that being together the classic elements of the music: irresistible rhythm, joyous melody and uplifting harmony singing

Flugelhornist and vocalist Charlie “Chaz” Miller leads his jazz band with unmistakeable charisma and energy. Inspired by legends like Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong, and Nat King Cole, while channelling modern voices including Andrea Motis and Scott Hamilton, Chaz creates a sound that is both classic and fresh.

Local all-woman ensemble, We Bop Choir, present a glorious repertoire of songs celebrating sisterhood from their sell out 2025 Brighton Fringe Show, “We Are Family”. With the choir’s signature a cappella covers alongside new songs accompanied by a Latin acoustic trio, expect to hear gorgeous, shimmering vocal harmonies that will lift your heart and Latin flavoured grooves to move your feet. Directed by Rachel Myer with Pedro Enrique Medina on guitar, Eddie Myer on double bass, Sudhi Pooniyil on percussion and featuring Debby Tyndall on guest vocals.

New Generation Jazz are proud to announce that the Jazz Futures programme will be taking part in the Brighton jazz Festival.
Jazz Futures is a programme created by New Generation Jazz to encourage the wealth of young musical talent across the South East. It offers free weekly workshops and band classes at the Verdict Jazz Club in Brighton under the leadership of respected educators Matt Ellis and Claire Ellis, with a range of guest tutors including some of the UK’s most exciting rising stars offering their expertise, and specially commissioned works for the student ensembles to perform.

Ground-breaking transatlantic duo featuring the breathtaking virtuosity of Washington DC based American saxophonist Peter Fraize and the unmistakable hard-hitting groove of Brightonian keyboardist, Terry Seabrook. They will perform a mixture of their own compositions as well as a selection of popular music from the American songbook. They first teamed up in 2016 and formed the internationally acclaimed jazz super group, ‘Atlanticus’, who has since toured both in the UK and the USA. Together they have performed at some of the biggest Jazz Festivals and most prestigious venues in the world, such as Love Supreme Jazz Festival, London's ‘Ronnie Scotts’ and Baltimore's ‘Keystone corner’ to name just a few.

Very Tiny Toads is an exciting new collaboration between keyboardist Tim Wells, drummer Angus Bishop and saxophonist and parliamentary award winner, Josephine Davies. Using the classic 'organ trio' format, they shake things up by reconsidering well known tunes by Radiohead and the Beatles. Endlessly creative, with great energy and musicality, the Very Tiny Toads are becoming the South Coast’s hottest new band.
